Meet the Team
A close-knit group of professionals who share the same vision for the burgeoning cannabis industry.
Combining biology, engineering, and industrial processes to streamline our cultivation (with 10 co-authored patents), Reed is the man who makes it all run.
I’ve been a researcher in plant science for many decades and have my name on numerous research papers published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as around 10 patents. With time, I became more and more interested in making research outcomes relevant by actualizing them through scale and implementation in industrial settings.
I love working with my colleagues at United Greeneries, working with the plants, as well as combining biology, engineering, and industrial processes. The cannabis industry is growing exponentially, which means you learn every day and make huge leaps fairly often, compared to millimetres in more established environments. For example, today, we made our milling process for one of the blends 5 times faster. In one day!
Seeing high-quality finished product go out the door and realizing it’s the successful orchestration of dozens of factors and months of effort by hundreds of people is immensely rewarding.
The source of all our cannabis knowledge, Mikael knows more about “the most diverse plant in the horticultural industry” than most, but every day he is delighted to learn even more.
When I was offered the job of a Master Grower at United Greeneries, I jumped at the chance to work with a company at the forefront of this fascinating new industry. I had one condition — that my job title would not be Master Grower.
There’s so much to learn, so many unknowns, as well as new systems and regulations to conform to. No one can call themselves a master in this burgeoning space — it’s just the beginning!
I got into the cannabis industry because of friends and family members having health issues and realizing the medical benefits of the plant, which I think is the most diverse plant in the horticultural industry. After many years at a commercial greenhouse field, I found a natural fit at United Greeneries, where I share the same vision with the team. Coming in every day and seeing the progress on crops and plants is incredibly rewarding.
An early believer in the project, Carol has done just about every job in the company, from raising capital to trimming the harvest, and is now our RPIC (Responsible Person In Charge). It’s safe to say without Carol none of us would be here.
I was introduced to United Greeneries by my son. He knew I was getting antsy and needed to do something, as I had spent the previous 5 years taking care of my husband during his illness. At the same time, United Greeneries needed someone to help them build the company, so I got to work. The idea of possibly helping so many people gave me incredible energy. Best decision I’ve ever made.
CaitlynOrder Fulfillment Specialist
Caitlyn has reweighed every single bag in the vault and counted over 10,000 seeds by hand to ensure the accuracy of our inventory. She says that no task is too detailed when you love your work.
My mother was ill when I was young, and she chose medical marijuana over opioids. This opened my eyes to the beneficial effects of marijuana. Since then, I have read everything I could get my hands on and mentored under anyone who would teach me. I worked in a hydroponic store for half a decade to learn from as many growers in the shortest time possible. As a volunteer under a few MMAR growers, I quickly discovered my passion for the plant and all its qualities.
United Greeneries has shared with me a vision that aligns with my own personal beliefs. I love working with cannabis. The smells, the beautiful colours, the stickiness, the pungent aroma. On top, we are a close-knit team and often hang out after work and on the weekends.
Everyone here is incredibly dedicated. I want to be a part of this new wave of cannabis use in Canada, and with United Greeneries I always feel like I am a pivotal team member and have a lot of opportunities to grow.
ThomEnvironmental Control & Continuous Improvement Specialist
Previously an engineer, Thom’s passion for agriculture brought him to the cannabis industry. Today, he keeps our environment under control and makes sure the team and the plants can grow outstanding cannabis.
I grew up in an agricultural community in Southern Ontario and worked on a couple of farms during my youth. I studied engineering at the University of Guelph, but did all of my co-op work in agricultural research throughout my degree.
After graduating and a one-year internship at a consulting civil engineering firm, I returned to my agricultural roots and followed my love of plants to a greenhouse in Niagara to work at one of the largest licensed cannabis producers in Canada. Eventually I moved to United Greeneries, which made a great impression on me.
I love working with plants. I particularly love the harvest, as it’s always a fast-paced and demanding time. In the end it’s extremely rewarding to see the fruits of our labour and work in a field that produces medicine for people, especially if cannabis is the only effective relief for them.
An in-house bud tester, Sid is passionate not only about our plants but, above all, the quality of our product. He can tell you the exact cannabinoid profile in 8 minutes or less.
Originally from Northern India, close to Kush mountains, I saw a lot of cannabis plants growing up. Coming from a background in pharmacy and chemistry, I thought there was a lot of research that needed to be done on cannabis, particularly around medicinal values that allow for the treatment of diseases.
Today I’m a professional bud tester, which involves quality assurance and quality control, documentation and record keeping, participating in audits and testing cannabis samples. I focus on the quality of our product and spend a lot of time and effort on paperwork, documentation, testing, and following regulations at the same time.
My job also requires me to interact with all members of the organization and learn from them. I love that I get to come to work and discover new things about the company, business, and market every day.
